If you're writing about SOMA Commute, it helps to mention your home station and roughly what time you were looking at the app. A screenshot is even better.

SOMA Commute questions

Why does the track say “likely”?

At Penn Station, the board often doesn't post a track until a few minutes before the train leaves. Sometimes the train is already on its platform before then. When NJ Transit's train location data shows that, the app tells you the track early and marks it “likely.” It's usually right, but it's a hint, not an announcement, so check the board before you head down.

Why does it say “Offline · timetable”?

The app couldn't reach our server, usually because you're in the tunnel or somewhere with a weak signal. Instead of a blank screen, it shows the day's scheduled times from the timetable. Live delays and track numbers can't come through until you're back online, and the app switches back on its own when the connection returns.

How do I change my stations or my jitney stop?

Open Settings in the app. You can change your home station, your jitney stop and your usual hours there at any time.

Why don't I see Penn Station trains during the bridge work?

From October 11 to November 14, 2026, while NJ Transit works on the Portal North Bridge, Midtown Direct trains go to Hoboken instead of Penn Station. The app shows the Hoboken trains, and you take the PATH from there into the city. Penn Station trains will show up again when the regular service comes back.

Is this an NJ Transit app?

No. SOMA Commute is independent and isn't affiliated with NJ Transit or the Port Authority. For tickets, refunds or service problems, contact NJ Transit directly.
